M 15 Globular Cluster in Pegasus

M15 (NGC7078) is a bright (6.2mag) Globular Cluster in the constellation of Pegasus ,which can easily be watched in even small binoculars. The apparent diameter is about half that of our moon and contains about 100.000 stars, some of them are variable. The cluster is very densely packed and there seems to be a black hole in its centre.A very small Planetary Nebula named Pease1 can be observed close to its core. The real distance is about 33.600 light-years by a real diameter of 175 light-years.

It was discovered in 1746 by the French-Italian mathematician and astronomer Jean-Dominique Maraldi.

this is a more detailed look:

a little bit NW of its centre there is a little Planetary Nebula called Pease1.

very bad seeing conditions allowed no higher resolution of this fascinating object.
