NGC6221 is a disturbed spiral galaxy in the constellation of Ara.Its magnitude is 10.1mag with a size of 3,5´x 2,5´
It was detected by John Herschel in 1835 with a 19-inch instrument. It interacts with the nearby Galaxy NGC6215.
Both lie in the low galactic latitude of only 10° and therefor are "hidden" by many foreground stars and dust clouds of our own milky-way.Its nuclei resembles to starburst-galaxies (X-ray observations)
