Henize 2-111 Planetary Nebula in Centaurus

This extremely faint and complex nebula He 2-111 (PK 315-0.1) with extended halo was discovered by Karl Henize in 1967. Based upon deep plates from the Anglo Australian Telescope, B. Louise Webster in 1978 described a giant halo around this planetary nebula located between the huge binary star, mag 1.3 Alpha Centauri(out of field right) causing background irregularitiesĀ and open cluster NGC5617 (out of field left)in the southern constellation of Centaurus.
