NGC6541 is a lesser known globular cluster in the constellation of Corona Australis. With a brightness of 6,3 mag it could be detected by the unaided eye under very clear skies. With a diameter of 15 arc-minutes (half the moon´s size) it looks like a fuzzy spot even in binoculars.
Nicolò Cacciatore (1780 - 1841) of the observatory in Palermo discovered it in 1826, just a few months before James Dunlop independently found it.
It´s age is about 14 billion years.
