NGC2292 (the right member of the two merging GX´s) and the other two galaxies can be found as a beautiful triple set in the constellation of Canis Major. With an apparent size of 4´x 3.5´ arc minutes, its brightness is of a mere 12.5mag.
Typed SB0 it is strongly merging with its neigbour, the galaxy NGC 2293,which seems to be a little bit brighter than NGC2292.The edged-on galaxy NGC2295 to their right seems to be member of this group, but this is not proved yet.
NGC2292 was first seen by William Herschel in 1835
