Belonging to the Leo II Galaxy-group,NGC3338 is its brightest (10.9mag) member.Sized 4,7′ × 2,6′ it can easily be seen in mid-sized telescopes.With its fine blue sourrounding arms it is classified as as a SA(s)c spiral.The real distance to our solar system is about 80 Mio.light-years.It was first seen by William Herschel in 1784.
